01/29/2023: Reread! (Audiobook.)

This definitely has a different feel to it than The Folk of the Air series. That isn't a bad thing though. I am so overjoyed to return to Elfhame in this duology!

I loved the further exploration of Faerie in this book. I also really loved the additional history that we learn about Elfhame and Oak and Suren's ancestors. It was quite enlightening and really pumped me up for the next book.

Wren and Oak both earned a place in my heart with this book. I have been antici

I was very excited when I found out that Holly Black would be writing more in the world of Elfhame. For some reason, I haven't been able to connect with any of her other works outside of the The Cruel Prince series. It has been a few years since reading the original Folk of the Air trilogy so I can't remember a lot of the details. With this being a new stand-alone duology I thought that wouldn't be a problem but I think I was wrong. I have a feeling once I read the sequel I'll probably go back and rate this five stars.
I love Suren. She is feral and soft.
Oak needed more development. He didn't feel fully fleshed out-so that's what I'm looking forward to most in the sequel!.
Great returning to this world!
