Sometimes when author's can't seem to let go of a world, it can get tedious. But I don't find that with the Grishaverse. Leigh Bardugo keeps finding ways to expand different elements and I love these little tidbits that we keep getting.

In Demon in the Wood we get a little more backstory on the infamous Darkling. I find this character so fascinating that I crave more information. I also loved that this was told in graphic novel form. The visualizations really added that extra element to the stor

I remember reading the short story a few years ago and loving it. The graphic novel is a faithful adaptation. Would love to see the rest of the series illustrated by Dani Pendergast if possible!

First of all I haven't read the other books yet or watched the series, so maybe I will. In fact, the graphic novel is the prequel to the novels and the tv - series.
I had no idea what Grisha were and there was only a brief explenation throughout the story, but it was enough. They are powerful people with special and rare gifts and it seems that they are always on the run for normal people and other Grisha.

If you ever wanted to know why the Darkling was the way that he was in the Grisha trilogy then you just need to read this graphic novel. This is the perfect villain origin story that makes the reader really understand where the Darkling was coming from. You can't help but feel for him. This is a fantastic addition to the Grishaverse and I think that all Grishaverse fans need to read this.

I’m not sure I had read the short story prior to this, so this was a completely new story to me. One that pulled me in quickly and left me sad at how quickly it ended.

In this, we dive into The Darklings' past. We see how many names he’s had over the years. We see his determination growing. This sense of responsibility he has as well.

The art really brought it all to life. Dani Pendergast captured everything beautifully and showcased the emotions throughout.
