After a few weeks of processing, I’ve decided to bump this one up to 4.5 ⭐️!

An absolutely wild ride from beginning to end. I loved everything about the reading experience, except that sometimes the pace was a little too slow for me. I absolutely HAD to know what was going on, but sometimes I wanted to find out faster than our first-person narrator would let me. Still, Margaret Hartman as a narrator is both entertaining and gut-wrenching, in the best ways possible. I'm excited to offer this book

This was such a fascinating, spooky read. I loved the haunted house and all its quirks. I loved wondering what was going on, trying to piece apart what was the truth and what was the sugar-coated things told in order to protect others.

The story is jumbled. It was at least half way and I was still scratching my head, wondering what was going on. But I loved the unreliability of it. I loved how wondering what I would do and if anyone would believe me. It helped that the ending was a race. It take

Horror of any kind is really out of my comfort zone. I'm a wimp when it comes to scary books and movies. I bit the bullet and decided to pick up this book because I saw it on a booktubers channel. I wasn't all that impressed. I wanted this book to be scary so bad. I mean the kind you don't read at night (well me at any rate) but the part of the book that was really meant to be "scary" the last 2 chapters I'm guessing, had me laughing. It was gory but not scary in anyway. I'm not sure if a books ...more

This is one of those books that the less you know about it going in, the better. I will say, I didn't start off loving it - I was lukewarm to it at first, and that's because I thought the main character was making some questionable decisions. Why would she want to stay in a house that's haunted?!!! But hang in there if you're like me, because the 2nd half ... or maybe just the last third is insane. I'm deliberately not saying much here - but also, if you get a chance, listen to the audiobook. Th ...more

Such an interesting story, tying in the supernatural with the psychological well. It was intriguing how the psychotic symptoms were mixed in with the ghost story. Reminds me of my days as a prison mental health counselor.

3.5 stars rounded up. This was a difficult one for me, and it could round down on another day. I enjoyed the ridiculous over the top things going on, but I despised the characters and their actions/choices the entire time.

I needed a minute to adjust to the tone because it wasn't what I expected, but I came to love this. The narrator was great too. ...more
