Maybe like 2.5...
The Fairyloot version of this book was BEAUTIFUL. I am so sad I did not like it more. But alas here we are.
When Niamh is given the chance of a lifetime to be the royal tailor for the princes upcoming wedding, she immediately believes this will solve all of her families problems. I had hoped to like this more, but it felt kind of flat to me. There were things like Niamh's magic and the toll it takes, the disdain for Machlish people in general, the king's health status, and the magic system overall that I thought weren't well developed. They were there as plot devices, but the focus was clearly on the romance and other things fell to the wayside.

I gave it 4 stars. Idk how I feel overall, not sure what the sequel could be about. Unless it's Sinclair, but it's odd for ya fantasy to be a companion series. Given the fl bonus stuff though it seems likely. I always love a secret person like this, the figuring out who Lovelace is. I also just never try and figure it out by myself, I'm always along for the ride. Sinclair is by far my favourite person though.
Might keep this one physically. I wonder where the story will go! Everyone is so torture ...more
