Sigh... sadly, this was disappointing to me.
First off, I will say that I love that this was in Oak's POV. It was nice to finally get inside of his head to see what he thinks of everything happening. He's kind of a mess which is to be expected from his upbringing, but, oh man, this boy was just lost.
Another thing I really liked - seeing more of Jude and Cardan. It was nice to see what was going on with them. They still bring a smile to my face and I will gladly devour anything they are in.

It was great to revisit Elfhame with this series. The reappearance of Jude and Carden definitely was a bright spot in this book. Oak is such a likable character, so I was happy to see his journey continue in this duology. Unfortunately, Wren is not nearly as likable of a character as the rest. The story was well-written in Black's usual engaging style that kept me reading. I just wish Wren was more consistent and likable as a character. ...more
