"You need to be careful," he said. "You're way too trusting. The people around you...you trust them. Don't. Don't trust them."
I'm so disappointed. I really wanted to love this one. But there were too many pieces, too many red herrings and way too many coincidences. So many parts had to be just perfect for all of this to go together and it took all believability and chucked it out the window.

Second five star read in a row, which has not happened to me in a long time. Wonderful feeling.
This was one of the best murder mysteries I've had the pleasure of reading in a long time.
Please pick this one up if you want a good mystery. ...more

This story through me for a loop. Never did I think that would be the ending. Well done. I really enjoyed finding out how all this happened and why Alicia didn't speak. Why she cut herself off from the world. As this book goes you realize just how dysfunctional Theo is. Why he came to the Grove in the first place. This book isn't just about Alicia it's about Theo. He is more mentally ill than Alicia in the end. All the while I thought it was one person and turns out to be another. The author rea

I loved this book and was so mind blown by the twist. I didn't give 5 stars for two reasons. The first 50 pages bored me to tears. To the point I almost DNF'd this book I was so bored. The second reason was the ending was lack Lister. I just thought it would end on a bang like the twist did.

Oh wow! If you want a book with a twist, this is absolutely the book for you.
Theo is a psychotherapist, who takes over the care of the infamous killer and renowned artist, Alicia Berenson, convicted of the murder of her husband. Since the murder of her husband, Alicia hasn't spoken a word. Theo takes it upon himself to get Alicia talking, to determine why she stopped talking in the first place and if she was truly the one to have killed her husband.
The twist on this one, you won't see it coming. ...more

Second Review for Bookist First:
I gave this book a 4.5. It was very good and I always love books with surprise endings. The book was easy to pick up and start reading. It had me hooked from the beginning! There were parts of it that I felt were a bit....flat? I'm not sure if that's the right word. Not boring, but not fast-paced either. However, you find out that all these parts are needed at the end. Sometimes when you're reading something, there are missing pieces that you don't even realize a ...more

I enjoyed this but i wouldn't say it was the best of its genre. I didn't see the twist bit thats maybe because it was unrealistic

This one starts out strong - interesting premise, intriguing layers peeling off as the chapters progress... but around 2/3rds of the way through ... it's like the lights start coming back up and the mysterious guy I'm chatting with, who I thought looked like a scruffy Ewan McGregor, begins to look more and more like ... Eric Trump.
Ok, that's too harsh. But I didn't end up liking the book as much by the end, as I thought I would at the beginning. ...more
