More of a 2.5 but I can’t bare to give this author less than 3 stars. Her imagination is astounding and the characters are lovely. I’m not usually a novella person so I say it’s me thing and not her. The stories are always so quick and have minimal content so it’s hard to feel fully pulled into it you know?

Let me just start off by saying that this book was BEAUTIFUL. The cover, the art - Exquisite. 10/10 on design. I ended up getting the B&N exclusive edition and have zero regrets on that decision.

Now to the story. I, like most people, was really excited for this one. I read this in one sitting, while waiting for things to bake on Thanksgiving day when I needed a moment of downtime. Was it needed? Absolutely not. Did I enjoy it? Well...parts.

If you aren’t a novella person, than this book might not be for you; however, I do like novellas and really enjoyed this one! I haven’t read the Caraval series in years, but being thrown back into this world with these characters was definitely special. I loved that this was more of a holiday love story with a little bit of kidnapping in it than anything else. "Be careful what you wish for. Holiday magic is a real thing."

Okay so this was actually so fun. It had holiday vibes, romance, and mystery. I am a bit disappointed that Jacks wasn't in it, and that Julian and Scarlett weren't there as much. But I actually had fun with Tella and Legend! A pleasant surprise for me because their relationship was never my favorite. The illustrations were also GOREGOUS. They added so much to the vibe. Fabulous holiday novella.

I’ve been a big fan of Stephanie Garber since I first picked up Caraval back in 2017, not long after it released. I just fell head over heels in love with her magical writing style and even back then, I remember thinking her writing style would suit a magical Christmas story so much.
