I gave this book 5 stars for 2 reasons:
1) It's funny, and it is my kind of funny
2) It is so damn satisfying and validating.
To be completely honest, for a good chunk of my reading time, I was convinced that this was a 3.5 stars or a 4 stars at best, because it was hilarious and it was delightful, but around the halfway point I started to lose a bit of interest, it felt like things dragged a bit. 2/11/24 Reread and I enjoyed it as much as as I did the first time. I liked the playfulness of Evie and the stark contrast that was the villain. I enjoyed that it was very grumpy and very sunshine. As if when she walks in the room she takes all of the darkness out of it. While I do feel like it was a little youngish, I still liked it.

I enjoyed listening to this one, it's a fun story and the main character cracked me up with her clumsiness and unexpected dark streak. It may not be the best technical writing, but I was entertained and plan to read the sequel.

I went into this book without really knowing what to expect. I've heard mixed things about it, but I did end up enjoying it. I'd say that this book is a pretty quick read. I probably read it in about two hours. There was so much to this book and I thought that was nice. It had intense moments, it had sweet moments, it had unexpected moments. I genuinely loved this! The author packed so much into a really succinct and well written story. It was a slow burn romance, lots of denial of feelings, a villain story, fun, funny, and adorable. There was a mystery that had my wholly engrossed, adventure, plus side characters that I genuinely felt endeared to like I’d known them. It’s not easy to build a world and cast of characters in such a short book but she really pulled it off. I’m just glad there are more coming because I need it.

Brilliant. Funny, light hearted but with a ridiculously feel good ending gut shot. A good pallet cleanser for sure.
When Evie Sage gets an offer from the infamous (and very handsome) Villain to be his assistant, of course she says yes! Life in a nefarious office empire is like any other, but trouble starts when it becomes clear someone inside is sabotaging and trying take out the Villain! Who said office life is boring?
My Grade: A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely loved this book. I can't believe I waited so long to read this, shame on me.
