Oh. My. Goddess. I had forgotten how much I adore this series! This is my 3rd time reading GAME OF THRONES, and I am *not* a re-reader. I can count on one hand the number of books I've ever read twice, but I just can't get away from this one. Every time I read it, I like it even more, which is an amazing feat.

Having seen the tv series, I have always wanted to read the books and I am so glad I started. George Martin is an amazing writer. The level of detail and imagination he has created in this series is astounding. The book is very long and yet it did not feel it. Even having seen the show, and knowing what happens, I felt like I was reliving it all over. I was enveloped from the beginning and every emotional scene had me on my toes and in tears at times. I watched the tv show before reading the book. Which may not have been the best thing to do but oh well. I did that.
I liked the book okay enough and found a lot of the characters as well as the story likable even if I'm not a huge fan of the genre that this book is. It's just not my cup of tea, yet this book drew me in, despite it's length.
I think my only compliant is how much description is used. It could have less description in my opinion. ...more

I am not an epic fantasy fan, that's why it took me so long to read this book. but I have to say that I enjoyed reading it. I may watch the series.
