The focus of this book is the planning and execution of the 1953 coup against Mossadegh. The account is written in a semi-narrative style, with precise information although not academic. Kinzer succeeds in showing how the coup was organized and he masters the rhythm of the story, specially the day of the coup, which is narrated almost on a minute by minute basis.
