3.5 stars. Rounding up because Jason is such a rock star.
I picked up Playing for Keeps because it was getting some attention and I was curious to see why a seemingly unnoticeable book (have you seen the cover?) was starting to cause a stir.
What I was expecting : Neighbors who don't get along spend half of a book torturing the living daylights out of each other ...more
She quietly said good night, rolled her eyes as Jason mumbled, "I love you" to his brownies, and headed off to the bathroom.

I am always on the look out for a good, straight up contemporary romance. This one fits the bill excellently. It is a fun, well written little book.
The stuff that gets a big thumbs up:
The friends to lovers arc. I really enjoyed how the writer built the relationship between Haley and Jason. For five years they were semi-hostile neighbors. Well, Jason was just obnoxious. Haley silently fumed and tried to sell her house a few times to no avail. But finally comes the breaking point where Haley just ...more

This is the first recommendation from like readers that I have not liked as much as they. That is pretty good odds I think.
The story about two high school teachers who were also neighbours was a novel premiss. The nerd and the playboy concept fun. It was a cute story, just over the top and a touch immature for me. The constant eating but staying svelt was a bit much. Nice but just doesn't happen that way. Sooner or later life catches up.
I think I will pass on the rest of the series. ...more

I tend to go for romantic suspense but these little Neighbor From Hell books are so dang funny, I can't help but love them. Jason was an alpha but got his way through laughter and practical jokes. He just cracked me up with his antics. Haley was sweet. Too sweet. I don't like the pushovers, but she quickly found her backbone. It's a silly book, but it's just so easy to love.

this is one of my favourite books of all time, it's a good thing that the kindle pages don't get worn out because this book would have been worn down to dust with the amount of re-reads that it has had. Jason has to be my ALL TIME FAVOURITE HERO. He is someone who I would be very happy to meet in real life and can be described in one word YUMMY!!! this book has it all awesome characters great humour and good old loving romance...

Wow...4 and 5 stars for this book. Well, I made it to page 24 and had to give up, so I'm giving it 1 star. This is probably some of the worst writing that I have ever seen...and I'm pretty sure I've not read about more immature characters either. Moving on.
