I had no problem accepting all of the weirdness in the story, but some aspects of plot and motivation were a little hard to believe. Still, this was a great read!
I'm a slow reader, and 5 days for 300+ pages is quite fast for me. Which goes to show that this definitely qualified as an "unputdownable" book. Isserly was a very compelling character and the sci-fi elements are always just mysterious enough to keep you wanting to know more.
It could be said that the social commentary/allegory was a bit heavy-handed, but I didn't mind. A couple of small plot-related gripes are just enough to keep this one from a 5-star rating, but still highly recommended. ...more
