Re-read after becoming a die-hard fan fo the series, 5/9/18:

I'm going nuts here. I feel so sorry for grandpa. I love Lying cat. I can't believe how good this The Will still looks! And all the introductions of characters who... *sob* *sniffle*... this is almost too much for me right now.

Original review:

Truly a quiet piece of genius, now that I've read this far. It's pacing is great and its characters are all fantastic. The deep subversion vibe of that romance novel has got the shivers running dow

Originally, I had planned to read this second volume not before May (the end of May to be exact) but after reading volume one yesterday and having both here at home in paperback form ... I just couldn't resist.

This tells of Marko's parents being on the tree rocketship (have I mentioned I want one?) and how that affects everyone. They thought Marko had been kidnapped, then find out the truth ... and aren't happy. Especially not his mother.
Nevertheless, they come around (sort of, for now) and the

New and improved review (this time for the actual book I was reading*)

So, Saga again? Damn right!

description

While I thought Saga 1 was fun, the second volume finally sold me on this series.
There’s less action here. Our star-crossed lovers are still wanted dead or extra dead, sure. But this book is more about relationships. We come to see how Alana and Marko met

and fell in love:

There’s also Mom and Pops meeting time:

So we learn more about the backstory of our lovers and I got real

Horns versus wings.

Wreath versus Landfall.

Capulets versus Montagues.

Us against them.

Until …

“Them” becomes “we” and it’s only just … Us.

A classic storyline that in the able hands of writer Brian K. Vaughn and illustrator Fiona Staples blends fantasy and science fiction into a weird new imagining that is other side of the pillow cool.

There’s just so much to like about this series it’s hard to limit a favorable description to a few words. First of all, GREAT world building. From robot royalty to fr

Great artwork, great characters, but not as good as the first one. The plot is really thin. I had pretty much forgotten it the moment I closed the back cover. Still, awesome art, imginative and wacky.

The Saga continues and, if possible, this volume is EVEN BETTER than the first! The artwork is stunning, the characters are great, and I'm enjoying the story unfolding. ...more

Yeah, so, I'm kind of surprised at how quickly I've fell into loving this world. Really glad this was my first introduction to this medium. Such a change of pace from what I usually read and I find myself more and more drawn to this story, especially the artwork

Probably should pace myself since the story isn't complete yet but I doubt that's going to happen

Another great volume in the series. I must prepare you though. There are some VERY interesting characters in this volume. I was a little bit shocked when I turned one of the pages and HE was there in all his glory! But I guess that's what I'm learning with this series. Be prepared for ANYTHING!

Great world building, great character backstory. On to volume 3 now!

Come for the space opera and great reviews. Stay for the character arcs, scathing social discourse on war and power and the occasional, hilarious burst of irreverent humour.

The series does, however, seem to have a habit of suddenly plopping in these huge details that are just bonkers-level out there and makes everything take a strong left turn into the territory of "wait, what just happened?"

Sometimes, those add to the irreverent humour. Sometimes they give you whiplash.
