The series is pretty solid.

I won't be one of the hoards that swear by it, however, because, let's face it... it's pretty standard stuff. Return to the magic-less kingdom, join the revolution in progress, have interpersonal stuff, and then fight.

Sound familiar? Now just shake it up with more and more and more interpersonal stuff and pray the big fight scenes will pan out in a big way. :) And for the most part, they do. :)

No complaints here. It's a solid fantasy. Not precisely or extremely origin

This series keeps getting better with this one being the best one yet, albeit with a few flaws around two of the male characters that were introduced in the previous book.

Celeana, or Aelin as she is again known as, has returned to the capitol of Ardalan. She's come to get the Wyrdkeys from the King, but first she has some old business to settle with the assassin master that trained her. There's also the fate of Dorian after his father's actions at the end of the previous book and of course, ther

"We do not look back, Chaol. It helps no one and nothing to look back. We can only go on.”

There she was, that queen looking out at him, a hint of the ruler she was becoming. And it knocked the breath out of him, because it made him feel so strangely young—when she now seemed so old. “What if we go on,” he said, “only to more pain and despair? What if we go on, only to find a horrible end waiting for us?”

Aelin looked northward, as if she could see all the way to Terrasen. “Then it is no

Second read: I would also like to give my initial gushing review 5 stars for entertaining me 8 years later.

Read the review on Books of Amber

I don’t see this review turning out too well considering Queen of Shadows is one of my favourite books of the year (it’s in my top three and that’s all you need to know) and I have discovered that I am entirely unable to be coherent when I talk about this book. Expect fangirling and capslock throughout.

First thing’s first, Aelin’s the realest. AELIN. I

I'm giving this four stars on the weight of the ending, which I thought was great. And there were elements of this book that I genuinely loved - Elide and Manon's story, for instance - but so much of this felt ponderous to me. Nonetheless, I'm excited for the finale! ...more

I really enjoyed this but not as much as the second and third. I felt it was too long but as to what should have been cut, I can’t tell you. I did listen to this on audio, but although the narrator was very good, I found it more engrossing when I actually read it with my eyes! This time my preferred story arc was the witches.

Very very good. I enjoyed this new installment of the Throne of Glass series. I liked the POVs, the characters and the twists and turns of the plot, which were not entirely predictable.

I appreciated the previous book too, but it had been frustrating because while it laid the foundations for the second part of the series, it lacked rhythm and the whole master/pupil scenario got boring after a while. This time there are finally some resolutions, the plot moves forward in a certain direction and, f

This was so good! The pacing was superb and the newer characters merged well with the old. Now I have to wait...

The best part of this book is the witches. Loved all those segments. The other parts of the story felt slow and a little juvenile with all the rifts between supposed friends. The ending, tho.

A fun read. I hadn't read a Throne of Glass book in a while, so it took just a second to get back into the world and remembering where everyone left off. But once I found my bearings, I flew through the story and found it an entertaining ride. I loved how the Manon and Aelin storylines have now intersected. The romance aspects of the book are still my least favorite, but I still find these books compulsive reading and easy to keep turning the pages. ...more
