Still excellent on reread, Heir to Sevenwaters, centres around Clodagh, a self-described “ordinary” young woman (although she does share the skill of mind to mind speech shared by all twins born of Sevenwaters, which is hardly ordinary). But, like all children of Sevenwaters, she possesses a singular strength of heart, which serves her well in navigating the deadly games of the Tuatha dé Danann.

An easy read, because it is a tale so well told.

I liked this one MUCH more than book 3. Cathal is a great hero, and I love the strong female main character and her quest. I also loved Becon.

Juliet Marillier has a true gift for painting pictures of a fantastical medieval Ireland. I liked Clodagh's journey into the Otherworld and seeing that adventurous, dreamy side of things. It was also nice to see a Sevenwaters lady without a magical ability as the protagonist. Clodagh relies on her wits and her homemaking skills to save herself and her loved ones. ...more

Clodagh is a normal young woman of the Sevenwaters family; no druidic or sorcery skills, just bright and competent, dealing with extraordinary events

The love interest is both obnoxious and then suddenly, overly solicitous. I'm not sure I liked him. He wasn't helped by having an accent not in keeping with his history and geography. I had an audiobook.
