Totally enjoyable interpretation of three different fairy tales (I wanted to type "tails", in consideration of the narrator.)
The story starts with the bloody death of a swan princess, and the grief of her sister Dora Rose, who is now the last remaining member of her family. The swans have been killed off by the members of the mayor's hunting party. The mayor has been creating self-playing instruments made from the bones of the swan family.

Amusing fairytale with dark undertones, as it should be. None of that Disneyesque sweetness. Despair, murder, maiming... and snark.
Took me a bit to realize that I was reading a re-telling of a classic fairytale. Not telling you which, so I don't spoil your fun. Here is a hint, it's about (view spoiler)
