This is is such an amazing book with so much to love about it. The story is multilayered and beautiful, sad and uplifting. The characters are all so, so wonderful and unique. I loved each and every one of them. The writing is a joy.
The audiobook narrator did such an excellent job with this book, giving each character a wonderfully unique slant. I listened to this with my kids, but I would have enjoyed it just as much listening to it on my own.
Highly recommended.

I loved so much in this story:
-The tone of the narrator, who comments throughout the story about the legends of the witch of the forest
-Antain and his desires to be a carpenter and cause no harm to others
-Thene's (sp?) steely strength and intelligence
-The poet/monster Glerk, and his caring and kind behaviour
-Xan, whom I simply adored for her enormous heart and compassion
-Luna and how she learns and grows, and loves her friends utterly
-Luna's mother, who never, ever gives up on finding her daught ...more

Whimsical, magical and a whole lot of wonderful.
I really enjoyed the start of this book. The characters are all so different - witches, swamp monsters, tiny dragons. And the premise of the book just pulled me in right away. Also, the audio is very well done. The first half of this book gets 4 stars.
However, I felt some things start to wear on me and unfortunately by the end I didn't connect with the book as much as when I had started. In particular, I didn't care for the repeating refrain (view spoiler) ...more

A gorgeously writing book and magical story that was such a pleasure to read. I loved all the characters, so complex and intricately written. The fair tale atmosphere drew me into the story and left me hating to put down this book. One of my favorite reads of the year. Fantastic!!!

I picked this up as a palate cleanser after reading a few heavy books back to back. What a joy this book was! I loved the writing. I loved the characters. I loved the story. I especially loved the lessons and use of magic. I just loved, loved, loved and it got me right in the feels. ♥
Admittedly, there was a bit of repetition in some parts that I thought could be cut out but other than this the story was perfect.

Enchanting. I adore this book, cover and Fyrian who is simply enormous.
Sweet story for school-aged children.
What a fantastic children's book. Beautiful writing, great characters, fantastic message, and so much magic. I loved it.
