My final book of 2023!
Right now I’m horribly sick with my first ever bout of Covid and I really wanted something easy yet satisfying to read. Ta da! Fourth Wing is basically this generation’s Twilight, or looks to be heading in that direction anyway.
I will just pause for a moment to let you all digest the fact that yes, Twilight, published in 2005, will soon hit the 20 year anniversary mark.

I enjoyed the plot and the characters (especially the dragons lol) and loved the ending. It was a bit too new-adult-y for my liking though. Good, passionate narration (after I got used to the narrator who seemed to have a cold…)

I guessed that ending.
Let me be completely honest: I fully expected to hate this book.
I wasn't actually going to pick it up, since it seemed very much Not My Thing -- especially since I don't really like dragons! But then my library had the audiobook available randomly and I was like, "what the hell? Why not try it?"

It's eye-roll-y and ridiculous and pulpy and some of the YA fantasy tropes were so frustrating. The love interests both deserved ...more

- Throne of glass vibes, i like the epigraphs, violet is kinda wishy washy, romance is cringe but xaden’s character gets better as the story progresses
- I would highly recommend The Burning series by Evan Winter for a more stronger military dragon fantasy
