Having enjoyed They Almost Always Come Home, I looked forward to reading another book by Cynthia Ruchti. I wasn't disappointed. At first I had a bit of trouble following the three different storylines, but as the book went on, this feeling went away because I became totally absorbed in each one. Elementary schools have a program to encourage pleasure reading called DEAR: Drop Everything And Read. And that's what you need to do.
