I give this book 3 stars because it held my interest enough to keep me turning the pages , yet I wasn't crazy about the writing nor the characters . They definitely felt juvenile and predictable but I kept turning to see if I would be proven wrong . A few things caught me by surprise but not enough to shock me .Maybe in the past this genre has been read so much that it doesn't take much to wow me . I'd give this 3.5 stars. The big reveal was a little run-of-the-mill and not as mind-blowing as I wanted it to be. That said, what this author does really well is building suspense. It's been awhile since I picked up a book that I needed to read compulsively in order to know what happens next. You know at the outset that something has gone horribly wrong, and only find out the sequence of events pieces at a time as the chapters progress.
