No one shreds your heart & writes pain as beautiful as this two time National Book Foundation award winner. Jesmyn Ward catapults the reader into the lives of her characters and stirs your soul with her poignant & elegant prose. Once you experience her greatness you will be forever mesmerized.
I have to admit I️ slipped a bunch of pages because...those damn ghosts. Ugh. I️ appreciated the family afflicted with addiction and poverty. Racism and family strife. But how about all that without those ghosts...

Loved it. Gripping and moving. I felt a part of their world. The vivid depiction of life was awesome. Excellent. Excellent. Read.
This book was beautifully written. Magical realism just isn’t my cup of tea.
