5 stars really doesn't give this book justice. Mr. Sanderson please take all the stars.
I did not want this book to end, hence the length of time it took for me to actually read it. I slowly savoured each chapter, page, paragraph, sentence, word...this was more then just a story, this was a connection, a forever with you always connection.
Thank you Brandon Sanderson for creating this world and these people. You made me smile, cry, love, hate. So many emotions, a sign of ...more

This author is not as skilled at creating characters as George R.R. Martin but the story was much more uplifting and clean. The book follows three characters in the strange events following the fall of a city of gods. The characters each have different aims but each is determined and optimistic, leading to miraculous events of the city's restoration. The balance of mystical events and realistic character portrayal kept this long book interesting.

Those are little tidbits that can be worked into the dialogue without making the narrator spend full sentences explaining them. I've got

I was really intrigued by the entire work and totally enjoyed reading it. Then, two days later, I found I could not remember plotlines or specific character names - usually a sign that that I have "been there, read that" many times. However, a great read!

I really liked this book; I understand it i Sanderson'sfirst fantasy novel and have criticized it for being too predictable. Many books are predictable, but the journey is still wonderful.

I like this one. I like it a lot. It's not necessarily one that will live on in my mind for all time, but it's got a solid narrative voice; a system of magic that isn't been-there, done-that-1000-times; and one of the best hooks (the first page) I've seen in a novel. The resolution is strong and conclusive, yet leaves room for possible continuation in the future, and relies on the protagonist's problem-solving and thinking skills rather than "phenomenal cosmic powers." Refreshing and unique.
