"Singer of Souls" is a wonderful little fantasy novel, especially taking into account that this is the author's first adult novel (he collaborated with his mother, author Jane Yolen, on children's music books). The story follows Douglas, a Minneapolis street musician who is addicted to heroin. Trying to get clean, he decides to go to Scotland (where his grandmother lives) to try and make a fresh start. I've been a big fan of Adam Stemple through his involvement in Boiled in Lead, and Cats Laughing for years now. So, I was quite exited when I read someplace that he had written a book (I have not read the one he wrote in collaberation with his mother Jane Yolen yet). I was very happy to run across a copy (signed no less!) via bookmooch.
