As I'm sure everyone here knows, this is my own book so I'm not going to be reviewing/rating it. But I do think people might be interested in its progression so here goes.

As part of the beta read for Rhune, I got the chance to check out this novel before it's even on shelves! It's a solid novel, but it's nothing I would write home about. I imagine if you're already a fan of Sullivan's previous novels you'd like this entry, but I found at least one of the characters unnecessary, and because of the stone/bronze age setting, the other characters didn't really seem to have enough personality to stand out.

Age of Myth is the first book in a 5-book series written by Michael J. Sullivan, the author of the Riyria Revelations and the Riyria Chronicles.

I gave all three books in the Riyria Revelations 5 stars so I looked forward to reading The Legends of the First Empire series as well, which is set in a time period a couple thousand years before Riyria.

Age of Myth is very different from Ryria, and, in my opinion, it is not as successful.

Surprisingly good! I was afraid that this would sink into generic epic fantasy territory, but several really GOOD characters and poignant moments saved it. I'm not especially fond of the huge list of place and people names and fantasy terminology coined by the author, but once I got over this barrier, I really enjoyed it.
