This was so gorgeous. With lyrical prose and riddle after riddle. Shapeshifters and wizards who’ve disappeared. It required careful reading. We’d be strolling along and someone would say something that was obviously significant, that I had to reread a line or two to work out.

Now though, I definitely have to continue the series sooner rather than later.

When I read this as a child I had no idea how different it was from most of the genre.

Wonderful comfort reading in a time of stress (lockdown during 2020 Covid19 pandemic). Just what I needed. My reading goal is self care right now, so I'm not worrying about reviews, jut enjoying my books. I did do a lot of switching from paper book to Kindle to underline beautiful passages though. I love McKillip's writing so much. ...more
