This series keeps getting better and better. It's absolutely a blast from the beginning to the end and, unlike most novels I read, there's hardly ever a time things slow down, but without feeling overly strained either.
I don't know what more I can add to this popular series other than I've been reading Abraham (half of S.A. Corey) since his Long Price series first came out. I've read his urban fantasy too, but this series, with his other half, Ty Frank, is probably my favorite so far.

Abaddon's Gate is the third book in the marvelous science fiction Expanse series about the intersection of aliens in the terrestrial solar system.
According to wikipedia, . "Abaddon means destruction or "place of destruction", or the realm of the dead, and is associated with Sheol."
So just from the name alone, the reader should know that this book is going to be about a place of destruction, which fits this story because the alien protomolecule has been the definition of destruction.

So, what the hell? I loved Caliban's War so much - I loved all the characters (old and new), there was plenty of action, and it was a tight story that I didn't want to put down.
Abaddon's Gate is just...it's like reading bureaucracy. It's readable, it's accessible, but it's soooo boring. The elements are all there, but it was like the authors were asleep when they wrote it. The main cast of characters is barely in it, and I really missed them. The new characters...I just didn't really care about ...more

The previous books in the trilogy were given 4 stars. I'm giving 5 stars to this last book in the trilogy (but not the last books in the series). The space opera thing has been done a lot now and it's getting harder for there to be originality and freshness in the genre. I'm happy to report that these elements and more are alive and healthy in this series. (Am I gushing? Sorry).

This was another enjoyable book in the Expanse series, that offered more of the same kind of thing as the 2 previous books and then steadily and reliably delivered.
If you liked the previous books, you'll like this one too. I did have a point where I slowed down and couldn't keep reading because I knew someone was going to do something awful and blame someone else for it. I hate reading that kind of stuff. But one I got past it, things started coming back together again and I did enjoy the book, ...more

Too much fighting, too much death and too much stupidity. But I guess that is just the human condition. Nice glimpse into the origin and purpose of the protomolecule within a rollicking tense and exciting action adventure. (view spoiler)
Enjoyed Caliban's War fractionally more than this, but will definitely be continuing with the series as time allows. ...more
