Gods, this was SO GOOD! I love a solarpunk/hopepunk setting, and Becky Chambers is a master. You know when it feels like a book was written specifically FOR YOU? This had that feeling all the way. The questions, the seeking, the doubt, the conversations - I loved, loved, loved it. Don’t be put off by the meandering feel - just jump on the bike and go for the journey. I can’t wait to read more in this series, and so thrilled that there will be more!

I like Chambers's prose usually, but it just didn't work for me here, and the plot was non-existent so there was nothing else to really hang the story on. It's sweet, but without much substance or depth.

This quick read is a delightful book. The main character, Dex, is nongendered so it's a little confusing that the pronoun used is "they" which is plural.
Dex is a monk who serves tea and finds life unfulfilling. So, Dex sets out for the Hermitage and on the way runs into a robot called Splendid Speckled Mosscap. Very chill and philosophical little story. A little too philosophical for me, maybe, but still quite enjoyable.
