If I was reading Scalzi's Interdependency series for the human drama, then this book would have felt a fitting end. Everything is all wrapped up by the end of the book. The ending is nice and neat even if the journey is messy. All the main characters reappear and play important roles. While the ending makes sense in context I am not sure I like where at least one of the characters ended up. Still a fun read with the trademark snark still in place.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

This is as slick and satisfying a reading experience as the first two books of the series. It's a gratifying conclusion in a moral sense as there are unambiguously just desserts served all around. It's a bit of a limp to the finish in terms of resolving the plot elements that generated so much tension in the first two books. Will the empire collapse as the the first book title boldly states? Uh, maybe? But also, maybe it won't. Another irritating feature of this book is how much of it is compose ...more
