I knew what was coming and still I cried. My 2nd reading was just as emotional as the first so many years ago; the pain and loss just as strong. Honor said she felt "satisfied" in the end and I guess that's the least for which one can hope.

I am constantly surprised at just how "invested" I am in Honor, her friends and her family.

I know I really liked this one when I read it as a young teenager. At the time it seemed like Honor did a lot of kicking ass and taking names. In retrospect ... it's a little hard to believe Honor was an ugly duckling for almost 50 years. Also, the ship's databanks don't have access even to information about how to apply makeup? Not as far-fetched as it sounds. Not only would it take up minimal space (physically and in terms of bytes), but for a while I had a roommate who was in the Marine ROTC. ...more

Honor is the only half way real woman in honor verse. With weber would not let his own political opinions come through o clearly.
