I enjoyed this book more than I was expecting to. Even though there are moments of extremely awkward, and heavy handed writing. Example: showing us in tedious, awkward POV-switching what both sides of a conversation think about a relatively inconsequential thing. And making Honor somehow the only Manticoran who can figure out that a certain polity is about to fall apart, and everyone else being drooling-idiot-level surprised that (a) this is happening and (b) she figured it out.
I had really given up on the Honor books. They came too slow and she rose too high. But this one has Honor as only a minor character and it deals with politics and war. good space opera.
