4.5 stars. An excellent, often overlooked book by Le Guin, that is worht yof being mentioned in the same breath as her otehr two classics: The Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossessed.

George Orr's dreams become reality. When his court-appointed psychologist figures this out, he starts using him to remake the world in a "better" image. Although Dr. Haber seems mostly good intentioned, striving to reduce overcrowding, pollution, and war, he refuses to recognize that George's unconscious mind accomplishes these things through random and often awful means. George Orr (one of the most likable characters you will run across) has the ability to "effective" dream and it pushes him to the edge of his sanity. This concept was the hook for me. OK - finished with it - there is a movie, but our library doesn't have it. Too bad - that would be interesting.

January 4th, 2k14 - I still have this on the reader. Jeff and I have been sharing it. So I've taken it off 'read' and put it back on 'current'.

Have it 'on the back burner' right now, 'cause we're reading something else, but I will get back to it.
