Like so many youngsters these days, Penelope has hardly a moment to herself since her mother has each day planned out. Because Penelope is a creative thinker and aspires to be a writer one day, she craves time alone or time spent just thinking, something that is not available to her. When the schedule for one day shows that nothing has been scheduled, Penelope somehow ends up in a strange, time-related land called the Realm of Possibility. Alongside her new friend, Dill, she works hard to find t ...more

Fun story of an over scheduled girl who lands in the Realm of Possibility. Interesting characters along the way. I kept thinking this would be such a great read aloud book in the classroom, as it is full of wordplay and interesting illustrations. Really reminded me of Phantom Tollboth or Alice in Wonderland bi liked it, but didn't love it. ...more

Reminiscent of The Phantom Tollbooth, this book has a timeless message about always making time to dream and imagine. Readers will enjoy the wordplay and puns, and this has definite potential to become a classic. It also makes a great read-aloud!

Cute. By entering a fantasy world in peril, a girl discovers that daydreamers (moodlers in the jargon of the fantasy world) can make big contributions if they approach the world on their own terms. A much needed message for a moodler like me.

Beginning of a series. Most of the story, Penelope, the protagonist, is lost in an otherworld of confusing dialogue driven mishmash. Not for ELL students -way too confusing. Type format was also difficult to read.

Loved the clever twists on time. The story really makes you pause and think about your own time schedules, too.

This wasn't horrible - it just wasn't great as an audio book, and I had other stuff I wanted to move on to. ...more

Lots of word play.
Really a 2 1/2 for me. Most kids I know will get lost in it, but think this is the sort of book that the uppity committee members on Newbery committee will want to highlight.
