I wish I had read this book to see the illustrations, but I listened to the audio and loved it. Answelica, the goat, stole the show, but I loved all the characters. In an age of heavy tech use it was a breathe of air to read something set in medieval times, a book with beautiful sentences and a plot that was unique yet also comforting. I am ridiculously sentimental and Kate DiCamillo plays me like a harp every time.
Bonus: a feisty Nubian goat among the main characters.
