I'm quickly learning that I love anything Lauren Wolk writes. I really liked Wolf Hollow, but this sequel is better. Annabelle is dealing with the aftermath of the end of Wolf Hollow, but she also has a minor tragedy of her own. I loved the connection between all the characters. I also loved seeing people who you think you know as someone else once you know their story.

I had to reread Wolf Hollow so that this sequel would make better sense, and I'm glad I did. Lauren Wolk's writing is as delicious as the pies Annabelle's mother makes. Her characters and settings ring so true it feels like you are right there. The big lessons Annabelle learns in My Own Lightning are ones we all need to learn or remember, no matter what our age.

I love this author. Her stories always paint a beautiful picture in my head. This was a great sequel to Wolf Hollow. I appreciated the new details about that first story. I still loved Annabelle and all her fiesty and strong personality. Lots of really great writing. I finished listening in two days because I just couldn't put it down.
