I loved this #metoo for middle schoolers. Anna was written with such strength, nuance and honesty. These issues are real and complicated for young people and this book could be so helpful. The way Anna “investigated” was clever and the addition of the texts, emails and documents made this an interesting and fresh read. It took me straight back to my own days in jr. high and those complicated feelings.

A book that will hopefully empower its middle-school readers.

Anna is new to 8th grade, but she notices right away that Rachel Riley is a social outcast. There seems to be no reason for this - Rachel is pretty and smart and nice, and from social media she can see that in 7th grade Rachel was one of the popular kids. This was a smart, engaging mystery told through emails, text messages and podcast episodes, along with first person narration.
