What a powerful book! Lina's parents left her in China when they emigrated to the U.S. 5-year-old Lina was left behind with her grandparends. 5 years later, she is reunited with her mom, dad and little sister in California. Lina speaks some English, but she definitely isn't fluent. A meaningful story about a 12 year old Chinese girl who joins her family in America. I appreciate stories that foster increased understanding.
One of Kelly Yang's best, though all her stories are engaging and easy-to-read with characters that are easy to like.
