Very very funny, about the world's most reluctant reader (based on the author's 3 sons). Charlie Joe gives tips throughout the book about why reading is not good and should be avoided. I really enjoyed listening to this book. It made me laugh out loud in several places which probably made the people in the cars around me wonder what was going on.

Fun to look at all the ways Charlie avoids reading, yet he becomes quite an accomplished writer, and has to read along the way. :)

My goal is to get kids to read and find books that they enjoy. I think Tommy Greenwald's book will resonate with a lot of kids and for that reason, I have two copies of it in my classroom library. We often times underestimate how smart middle school students are in their ability to recognize hyperbole and satire. Charlie Joe Jackson is an extreme character and a funny one too.
