What Members Thought

This didn't have the charm of the first book, and somehow, despite many serious things that happened, also seemed to lack the depth. What was cute and quirky in EVERYTHING ON A WAFFLE got schticky here. And there were a lot of loose plot threads that didn't seem quite to come together. I'm glad I made myself finish it, because it did get more interesting at the very end, and the last page is very satisfying.

Bit of a slow start for me*, but once I got into it I enjoyed it. What I like best about Horvath is her dry, understated humor and I was glad to see it here, lovely little sentences poking up here and there. My favorites are the throw-away lines, off-kilter vocabulary, and the odd-images here and there. Say the dreadful cat poems penned by Ms. Larkin. The plot felt a bit muddled, but it didn't matter as I read Horvath for the journey not the destination.

Wavering between between "good" and "very good". On one hand, Primrose Squab is back and once again making some very excellent observations about life in her small town. On the other hand, nothing much really happens during this year in Coal Harbor.

Really enjoyed this quiet book about a girl who makes observations about her logging town, plays matchmaker for two adults she adores, meets an unlikely friend, and discovers her own subtle talents. Horvath is a master of "voice".

I loved Everything on a Waffle so much, I had to pick up this one. It was great to find out what happened to Primrose and the rest of the cast of wacky characters in Coal Harbor. It doesn't quite live up to the first book. But do they ever?

Horvath's Primrose is back in the sequel to Everything on a Waffle, but for me, this was not the long awaited return I had been anticipating. Seemed slow to start, and this caused me to have a hard time relating to most of the characters.

Nice gems of thought in here. Overall, a bit of a meandering story of a girl living in Coal Harbor who befriends a foster child and interferes with her uncle's love life & loses 2 beloved dogs

I loved "Everything On a Waffle" and was not disappointed by this companion book. Primrose is a great character and the book was a fun chance to revisit her.
