Rumpelstiltskin always seemed creepy and mysterious to me. I always had the Paul O. Zelinsky illustrations in my head, and the voice from the "Reading Rainbow" segment in my head whenever he came to mind. Now, I have a much younger and more sympathetic Rump in mind.

This was a GREAT book by a new author, Liesl Shurtliff. It answers the question, Who really is Rumpelstiltskin? in a very readable and interesting way.

A fun, entertaining retelling of Rumplestiltskin. I enjoyed it and will recommend it to my book group and other fans of fairy tale retellings, but I didn't connect with it emotionally the way I have with my favorite retellings.

This is a fabulous read aloud. My soon to be 2nd grader loved it.
