Sheinkin was the master of distinguished storytelling in last year's Bomb. The story of the atomic bomb was complex and vivid: rife with amazing material to apply Sheinkin's powers and come up with a masterpiece.
What's lacking here isn't so much how Sheinkin can tell a story in a distinguished way, but actually the story that is told. I can see his mastery on display, but the subject matter is a mere chapter compared to the depth of Bomb's novel. I'd say it's for younger readers than B ...more

Interesting non-fiction about an attempt to steal Abraham Lincoln's bones and the nascent Secret Service. Not quite as gripping as "Bomb" or "Port Chicago 50" yet very interesting!

Brilliant, just fantastic! Written like a thriller. An incredible piece of history told by a remarkable storyteller.
Love the pacing and how rich the text is really makes history come alive.
