I thoroughly enjoyed this. I love when picture book biographies really seem to convey the personality and character of the individual they portray, and I came away feeling that I had "met" Moore in these pages. I hadn't previously read anything about Moore specifically though she is mentioned extensively in a picture book biography about Margaret Wise Brown (The Important Thing About Margaret Wise Brown -- which, for the record, I didn't like very much). A delightful peek into the early days of children's literature and the birth of youth libraries and librarians. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Anne Carroll Moore and her colleagues, who valued children and their rights to read and visit libraries. ...more
