as much as i loved most parts of it, there were some parts that i did not like or disagreed with or thought they were icky. i have to remind myself that this was written 20 years ago. *sigh*

so my thought process is: i recommend this book, but i would say take from it what you want to. not all of it will work for you, but the stuff that does WOOOOO BOY! revelatory.

I resonate with the popular low rated reviews of the book on goodreads and have nothing special to add. I found the first two three chapters about defining love, looking inwardly at familial love interesting, it goes on a steep downhill slope after. I stopped reading 2/3rds way in.
The author is preachy, paints things in wide brushstrokes without explanation or any investigation and is downright mean sometimes. Not sure how that sits with her idea of love. 2/7 would not recommend.
