Wow. I've officially determined that Owen is a patoot.
Is that a word? Yes, it is. According to the urban dictionary, it's a watered-down word for "butt".

It's amazing how Libby transformed from the last book to the beginning of this one. She still had her strong personality, but it was directed at the wrong cause, unfortunately. It's all Owen's fault. Kelly Oram has the ability to create characters so real you will be thinking of them long after the book is done. Also, her characters and story lines are each unique. In a world where too many times you can predict exactly what will happen next, and so many authors follow a rote formula, Kelly Oram does not. Each of her books is different. Oh noes. I finished it. I really finally finished it. Now what am I going to do with my life?
Well, obviously, whoever's reading this, I don't think you need me to tell you that this book was pretty darn amazing. It kind of threw me off that this book wasn't as...tame...you know, in THAT way...though let it be noted that it wasn't THAT inappropriate...ok I just bollocksed that up.

Take 2...Action!
This book was just as entertaining and "dramatic" as its predecessor. And by dramatic, I mean Libb 4.5

Well, obviously, whoever's reading this, I don't think you need me to tell you that this book was pretty darn amazing. It kind of threw me off that this book wasn't as...tame...you know, in THAT way...though let it be noted that it wasn't THAT inappropriate...ok I just bollocksed that up.

Take 2...Action!
This book was just as entertaining and "dramatic" as its predecessor. And by dramatic, I mean Libby's romantic life was all kinds of a wild ride. There were a lot of ups and downs that revived my feels and caused my inner fangirl to pop out. In the end, I was highly satisfied with the way this book went. All the somewhat-stupid decisions were fixed in a logical way (as in, it made sense and wasn't complete BS). And Adam...being in Adam's head was different than being in the heads of other book guys'. Not in a bad way, I assure you. Usually I just feel a thrill from being in the book guys' POV (come on, I can't be the only one) because, well, I finally get to SEE how guys think (even though they're dictated by a female author but whatever, you get what I mean), and I get to fangirl over their adorable ways. But with Adam...I don't know. It's just different. Maybe it's because we get to see his POV throughout the whole book (though, it was like that with the Avery Shaw Experiment so I guess that can't be a reason because I fangirled about Grayson so hard it was embarrassing). Maybe it's because...I DON'T KNOW.
One thing that annoyed me was Libby's attraction to Owen in the first place. Or just Owen in general. Man, he just...and she...AGGHASIDFHALKSEHGFKVZSGUFIKJAE. Yeah, go away Owen and control your libido and learn some common sense or whatever. (I wonder if Grayson will stay friends with him? I wonder if Owen will self-destruct and become a deadbeat? Eh.)
The point is, this book was its own special blend of unique. So, if you're reading this to decide whether or not to get this book, GET IT. READ IT. And FANGIRL with me. ...more

The Libby Garrett Intervention is the sequel/companion novel to Kelly Oram’s stellar The Avery Shaw Experiment and is an enjoyable romance that is fresh, fun and full of laughable moments!

Readers were introduced to Libby Garret in The Avery Shaw Experiment as Avery’s confidant, curvy and sassy best friend. Well, Libby’s back! Only she’s not exactly the girl we knew. Having been secretly dating Owen Jackson for the past year, Libby is addicted to the sexy basketball player, yet Owen refuses to acknowledge their relationship to their friends and acquaintances. Happy to leave their relationship strictly in the bedroom, Owen doesn’t treat Libby the way she really deserves and Libby refuses to see it, until her friends stage an intervention. Soon realising that maybe her friends are onto something, Libby agrees to take part in a Twelve-Step Program to help get herself over Owen, a Twelve Step Program led by Adam Keopp, the barista at the coffee shop where Avery works and someone who has harbored secret feelings for Libby for years. Tasked with helping Libby become the girl he’s always wanted again, Adam soon begins showing Libby that’s she’s better than Owen’s let her believe she is.....

Having previously read some of Kelly Oram’s work, I still fell head over heels when I read The Avery Shaw Experiment last year and count it in my top two novels of hers (alongside Cinder & Ella) so The Libby Garrett Intervention always had a tough act to follow. While I didn’t find myself as in love with it as I had been The Avery Shaw Experiment, I still enjoyed it very much.

While The Libby Garrett Intervention is super fun and super quirky, it also showcases a really powerful message. Libby’s insecurities and fears are something I really related with and found encouraging to witness be addressed. Oram manages to pack the novel with lots of light-hearted fun, but also manages to tell something really beautiful amongst the sass, humor and romance.

Libby’s a really quirky character and I enjoyed following her. She had a lot of attitude issues at the beginning of the book that she addresses with the help of her friends and an unexpected love interest. Ultimately I was glad to see Libby get back to her roots, after Kelly Oram finished pulling her apart and putting her back together.

As someone who was super excited to see Owen and Libby hook up at the end of The Avery Shaw Experiment, I was gutted when I first realised Kelly Oram had written Libby’s story the way she did. Yet, now having read The Libby Garrett Intervention, I can see why Libby’s story had to be told this way. Adam fits Libby. He sees her for exactly who she is and appreciates all her cat-crazy-neon-loving awesomeness. He finds her sexy and beautiful exactly the way she’s made and never makes her doubt her worth. Owen didn’t do this for her….and never really tried if we’re being honest.

Luscious and addictive The Libby Garrett Intervention is a decent follow up to The Avery Shaw Experiment that fans won’t want to miss. Oram introduces new lovable characters and leaves me wondering if maybe there’s possibly a story featuring Adam’s sister Kate or Owen in the future. Owen certainly could use some redemption as far I’m concerned!

OMG! As in oh my gosh! This book is so damn good that I’m still having this Libby Garrett Intervention hangover and I’m sure it will last for a very long time. I’m even wondering why I’m still breathing after not reading something from Kelly for a long time. (so guilty)

The Libby Garret Intervention is a sequel/companion to the Avery Shaw Experiment but it could also be read as stand alone. But I wouldn’t recommend such, because, dang! Avery Shaw Experiment is as fantastic as this book too. Oh Gr OMG! As in oh my gosh! I honestly don’t know how to write this review right now because I’m still in my “swooning” mode today. Actually, that’s partly the reason. This book is just so dang great that I don’t know how to write this review for it might not do justice to it. Imagine, just at first chapter but it’s already a swoon worthy scene? (though, that was because of Owen) I’ve been waiting for this story eversince I’ve read the part where Libby harassed Owen in that photo booth, haha. And the waiting is really worth it. Though my first assumption about this book was different, I still can’t believe how the author’s mind works, because this was greater than what I’ve imagined. And also, this is the very first book that made me want to get inside it and be one of the science squad (though I don’t like science that much, haha) so bad.

And just like Avery’s story, this was also told from both the main characters (Libby and Adam) point of view. It’s always great to know what both of them thinks to each other eh?, especially Adam’s. (swoon) And knowing Kelly, this book is so easy to read because of the words and terms she used. Though, Libby’s “language” wasn’t part of it, haha. Gluteus maximus and holy hyena feces.

All of its characters were natural, especially Adam. Which I first assumed as a “too perfect” character. But the ever unpredictable Kelly added something in his character that made him so vulnerable yet so likeable (that’s forever in my eyes) and so realistic. Libby on the other hand, oh well, what can I say? I just love the girl. But what’s disappointing is she has to change because of that blonde adonis Owen. Grrr! To think that I almost (as in almost) fell in love with him. So yeah, from being a cute, gorgeous, handsome, to being a j*rk. I should never trust anyone with that name again (haha, I’m really taking this seriously).

What I also love about this story is that it wasn’t just about romance with science and a little humor but it also tackles a very serious topic. I don’t want to elaborate that one because I’m afraid I will turn mushy-mushy and cry again. Yeah, this story did made me cry. Huhu Adam. Why is the world (or maybe the author? haha) so cruel? But it was also rewarding to know what happens to Adam afterwards.

That’s it. I really need to end this or I’ll end up crying myself to sleep. Read it and be ready to fall in love. And oh, it’s official, Adam is already promoted and was added to my list of book crushes, haha. (wink)
