Birds and bird calls are introduced with artistic flair in this read aloud title. Watercolor and digital media illustrations make each bird simply captivating and each spread a true work of art.
I LOVED the Word with a Bird spread following the story. It really did help answer questions I had as I was reading. The answers are factual as well as entertaining.
Must read for PreK-2.

Have You Heard the Nesting Bird? By Rita Gray, pictures by Kenard Pak – This is a great simple book about numerous birds and their calls partnered with an insightful conversation with a bird at the end of the book. Just loved the questions and answers with the nesting bird. Loved how the birds carry the used eggshells away from the nest so predators don’t find them.

A cacophony surrounds a robin as she sits quietly in her nest waiting for her babies to hatch. With very few words author Rita Gray fills the story with wonderful sounds and rhymes. Kenard Pak’s stunning watercolor and digital media illustrations strengthen the story and allows readers to truly appreciate nature. A “Word with the Bird” at the end of the book answers additional questions from the mother bird’s point of view.

Don't miss the "Word with the Bird" at the very end, it's a little Q & A with the mother Robin.
