What Members Thought
Beautiful book! Lovely poetic language and cadence. A good choice for the Mock Caldecott May book. However, An American Story and In Every Life still gets my vote for the big prize.
Not my favorite. The illustrations didn’t jump out, and I just think this book will be a shelf sitter.
A story of (grand)children enjoying a tree intermixed with the story of the grandmother planting it as a child. I rounded down because I enjoyed the Author's Note, of how her family lost most of their trees to winter storms and how replanting has caused her to question who planted the original trees, more than the story.
