A bitter-sweet, heartwarming, slow burn romance.

From the very beginning of this book I was hooked and River had my heart.

The book begins with River as a young abused child by his police officer, his step father. River took a last stand and refused to do what he said and in the heat of it all took his stepfathers gun and shot his abuser. Rivers mother riddled with guilt at what her son had been going through without her knowledge took the blame and went to prison.

Okay okay, this shit right here was freaking amazing! I completely loved it, while writing this I still have tears in my eyes, this was just beautiful.

This book was so sweet and cute but so emotional and a definite tearjerker. River Wild is amazing, he was just perfect I absolutely loved him.

He was a survivor of abuse as a child by his step father and he was so damn strong, and he was also a hero and I just fell in love with him the same way Carrie did.

Just reread it and yup, still holds its place as one of my favourite books. I absolutely loved Carrie's resilience and ofcourse River who was an absolute sweetheart ❤ the storyline was so sweet and yet heartbreaking, but all in all glad that it exists! ...more
