What Members Thought

Since I consider myself a fan of the Bond movies, I thought it might be fun to give the source material a whirl, and audiobook seemed like the perfect format. While the story isn't anything unique or incredible, it is certainly enjoyable and intriguing, moving along at a nice clip. I didn't expect the final third of the book to take such a mushy and romantic turn, but in retrospect this is necessary to set the stage for the ending and drive Bond forward to his next adventure.

While I've wanted to read a Bond book for probably eight years, I was not actually inspired to do so until I saw the new Casino Royale film. Reading this book after seeing the movie was actually quite enjoyable. Making the obvious comparisons between the two was probably what was most enjoyable about this book, although reading Fleming's actual words about Bond himself and the various people he comes into contact with was quite interesting.
