I read this back in college and even then the type of freedom Kerouac is touting didn't appeal to me... completely. I get why some people hate it and I get why some people love it so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle which is a lonely place to be when it comes to this book. Let me clarify: the only reason I'm in the middle is that I understand the impact this book had on a certain generation, which can't be overlooked, and on culture- however I'm not saying it was a "good" impact. I found this book to be a bit slow for the most part, except for the last 50 pages. This was another one of those classic books that I thought I should read since everyone else has at one point or another. I just couldn't connect with the main characters and did not think their adventures were that interesting to read about.
