Pride and Prejudice is Austen's second, most well know, and my favorite novel. The story starts when a rich young man named Mr. Bingley rents a house in the neighborhood. Mrs.Bennet has five daughters and is hoping that Mr.Bingley will fall in love and marry one of them.Mr.Bingley and her eldest daughter the beautiful sweet Jane seem to strike up an attachment. When Bingley's best friend Mr.Darcy,a proud gentlemen and Mrs.Bennet's second oldest daughter a playful witty girl named Eliazbeth(the main

Thoroughly enjoyed this listen on audible. I had never read the book all the way through, though I've watched the movie (1995 mini series edition) so many times I've lost count. It struck me how closely the movie kept to the book, especially with the language. It was so wonderful to listen to everything and picturing my dear characters, Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth falling in love. I'd recommend this edition, especially if you are an Austen fan, or if you've never read her books at all.

Several years ago a great friend of mine (Karly, if you're reading this ;) ) read Pride and Prejudice and absolutely loved it. She urged me to read it, as we often shared books, and I ordered it. I started my New Year with an easy resolution: To read more classics. I've read 1984 and The Lord of the Flies and found I didn't like them as much as everyone else did. This is why I was so hesitant to begin this book.

I really enjoyed this book and the plot made me so happy. My only problem was that the writing style got on my nerves sometimes and the grammar was a bit weird to me at times. I'm curious to know what I would think of this book had I not seen the mini series and movie first. (Scandalous!) ...more
