God, I'm a sucker for a good device / structure-play in novels.
I really loved this book. It was philosophical, and a bit heavy for my pandemic-addled brain, but so engaging I kept going and enjoyed every minute. The characters are vivid and distinct (except for the weird quirk that every woman was slim and had black hair. A curiosity of Le Tellier's own preferences, maybe?) and the language craft is outstanding. The translator did an absolutely masterful job here, by the way! I would say this is ...more
